SOLIDARITY AND PRO-ACTIVE ACTION: URC VIETNAM STANDS WITH THE PEOPLE IN FIGHTING COVID-19

Amidst the increasingly complicated developments of the Covid-19 outbreak in Vietnam and across the globe, the business community’s support to the government and the community has become more necessary than ever. URC Vietnam has come up with proactive initiatives to stand by the nation during this challenging period.

Immediately supporting community health is more important than ever

Vietnam has confirmed 258 Covid-19 infection cases until now. Huge efforts by the national healthcare system have been made to keep the population safe, as thousands of health workers keep toiling around the clock to fight against the disease.

In this critical stage, practical contributions, both material and societal, from enterprises are essential to support the government in the drive to protect community health and to empower frontline forces in the fight against COVID-19.

URC Vietnam recently announced concrete actions to tackle the societal, health, and economic emergency. The company recently donated VND1 billion to the “Fight COVID-19 with Tuoi Tre” programme initiated by Tuoi Tre Newspaper and the Ho Chi Minh City Young Business Association.

The company also offered VND700 million to people at the frontline of the fight against the disease through the Hope Foundation of VNExpress. Of this, more than 20,000 bottles of C2 RTD green tea have been delivered by URC Vietnam straight to quarantine zones, border gates, and frontiers in Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, and Quang Ninh provinces.

Also this week, URC Vietnam joined forces with some enterprises in PRO Vietnam to supply food and beverages such as Cream-O biscuit, C2 RTD green tea, and Rong Do energy drink to healthcare staffs and people in charge of the prevention and control of COVID-19 in quarantine zones in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 2.

At the event, Laurent Levan, president and CEO of URC Vietnam shared “We have witnessed the tireless efforts of frontline forces in this battle against the pandemic. URC Vietnam is strongly committed to supporting partners, organisations, and the government in getting through this tough time. As a company that takes corporate social responsibility seriously and a founding member of the Packaging Recycling Organization Vietnam (PRO Vietnam), URC Vietnam pledges to always stand by the country and the society”.

Positive community action to support and encourage front liners

To further extend URC’s support for frontline warriors in the battle against Covid-19, URC Vietnam also launched a campaign to drive stronger public support for the social distancing period (April 1-15). The “#C2PijamaChallenge, thử thách #C2ỞNhàChốngDịch” is another humble effort to help the brave frontline workers.

By encouraging citizens to stay at home through an entertaining yet noble social media activity, the company hopes to drive positive compliance from Vietnam’s citizenry and lessen the load for those in the field. Staying at home need not be an ordeal, but a golden opportunity to strengthen family unity and love before we all go back to our usual routine when this is all over. The faster we all contribute to ending this disease, the earlier our noble front liners can go back to their loved ones.

This initiative not only helps spread the positive energy, but will also turn tangible benefits as with every valid post, the company will contribute one item from URC’s products portfolio on their behalf. Just kicked off last April 6, the campaign has been well received by URC employees and warmly welcomed by consumers: with the combined effort from two promotional videos, the message has been viewed by more than three million netizens.

More than ever, this will encourage the whole community and other stakeholders to join hands and support front liners, thus showing that we are all together in doing our utmost to support the country to contain the COVID-19.

URC Vietnam is a 100 per cent Filipino-owned company and a part of Universal Robina Corporation (URC), the first Pan-ASEAN multinational from the Philippines with presence in Southeast Asia and Oceania.

URC’s well-known brands include C2 and Rong Do beverages, and Jack ‘n Jill for snack foods with Cream-O and Magic biscuits, Dynamite Big Bang candies, and Puff Corn, to name but a few well-loved names from its colourful selection.

Since starting operations in Vietnam in 2003, URC has poured about $200 million of investment and created more than 3,000 jobs in the country. Currently, URC Vietnam has five manufacturing facilities located the south, central, and north Vietnam.
