URC Vietnam: Sustainable development linked to social welfare and gender equality

URC Vietnam is committed to sustainable development and the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The company is gradually asserting its corporate social responsibility in parallel with its business goals.

As a subsidiary of Universal Robina Corporation (URC) - a member of the JG Summit Philippines conglomerate, URC Vietnam has been operating in the Vietnamese market for 20 years and provides quality and familiar products to consumers such as C2 green tea, Red Dragon energy drink, Cream-O biscuits, etc.

In addition to its core business goals, URC Vietnam has always complied with and partnered with the Government in the National Action Plan for implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, as well as implementing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations member states in September 2015.

Empowering women and gender equality are the keys to sustainable development in the community and at work

In this regard, the company is constantly striving to develop sustainable products of the company in combination with the management and use of resources to reduce waste, optimize natural resources as well as limit and replace activities that have an impact on the environment. URC Vietnam's goal is not only to promote sustainable development in business activities but also to fulfill the commitment to bring the company's net emissions to zero by 2050, towards the goal of building a circular economy with a greener - cleaner environment.

Gender equality - one of the 17 sustainable development goals set out by the United Nations is also given special attention by the company and is considered one of the key tasks that the company must implement. Accordingly, URC Vietnam Company focuses on increasing the empowerment and creating opportunities for women, gender equality.

The Month of Action for Gender Equality and Prevention, Response to Violence Against Women on the Basis of Gender is being prioritized by the departments and agencies of Binh Duong, becoming a highlight, and is a key activity every year of gender equality work.

In response to the Ceremony to launch the Month of Action for Gender Equality and Prevention of Response to Violence on the Basis of Gender in 2023, with the theme: "Ensuring social security, increasing empowerment and creating opportunities for women and girls to implement gender equality and eliminate gender-based violence" organized by the Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee on November 15, URC Vietnam Company has participated in supporting gender equality promotion in the locality, where there are many industrial zones and workers.

This is the first activity in a series of activities to promote propaganda and mobilization at all levels and sectors, attract attention, enhance the role, responsibility and active participation of individuals, families and communities in ensuring social security,  empowering women and girls to promote gender equality, prevent and respond to violence and abuse against women and children.

By participating in many activities towards the goal of gender equality, URC Vietnam contributes to helping officials, women, and people have access to the law, improve their understanding of the law, awareness of complying with the law and using the law to exercise their rights, protect their legitimate and legal interests as well as fulfill their obligations.
At the same time, it raises awareness, capacity and responsibility of officials, members, women and the community in preventing and responding to gender-based violence, preventing violence from happening, helping victims of gender-based violence to be detected, intervened and supported in time, contributing to the elimination of gender inequality and the end of violence.

This is also a way for URC Vietnam to contribute to fostering noble spiritual values, establishing a safe, equal and happy living environment for all, leaving no one behind.
